Travel to India while OCI is in process, and get OCI stamp in India for infants

Hi All,

My infant son's OCI is in process with Chicago CKGS now. Meanwhile I've obtained tourist visa so that we can go to India.

Can we get the OCI stamp in India when the OCI processing completes, so that he can stay there longer. Or can I bring the passport with me and get the OCI stamp and send it back.
Will we run into any issues if we bring the passport back while he's still in India.
