  • Validity of PIO card issued after 9th Jan 2015

    Hi,

Did anybody talked to the indian consulate about the PIO cards issued after 9th Jan 2015. I got the PIO for my baby and the issue date is 12th Jan 2015. Now since it is mandatory to apply for OCI card in lieu of PIO, when i tried to fill up the online form it says the PIO issue date is not valid if i enter the date as 12 - Jan -2015. When i tried to contact the [email protected] they mentioned that the PIO card is valid and referred to the OCI card point of contact [email protected] and shetty mentioned that my PIO card is not valid since it is issued after 9th Jan 2015. Did anybody faced the same issue and resolved it. What i need to do to get the OCI card. It is going back and forth, i know i cannot get a proper response from the consulate if i call them and so i am reaching to people here. Please help me.

    Hi,

You can talk to the customer support. However, I will advice you to apply for a fresh OCI card application instead of OCI card in lieu of PIO.
It will not matter if you have PIO. Its just you dont have to use it

    Thanks
    Indy

If you are willing to pay again for the OCI then do what Indy is suggesting

If you are willing to pay again for the OCI then do what Indy is suggesting otherwise fight it out with the local consulate....
