My both kids born in US have PIO cards issued in 2003 and 2009. I took my US citizenship in 2014 and haven't applied for my renunciation yet.
My family is scheduled to go to India in First week of June (in 10 days) but now i found that PIO card is not permitted and i have to apply for OCI.

    1) Is there enough time for my kids to get OCI before flying on June 5th
    2) Does me not renouncing my Indian Passport yet will become an issue for this
    3) I have NRE/NRO accounts and properties in India. How does renouncing my passport effect those holdings

    Appreciate your help and suggestions.

    Thanks

    1. you can travel to India with PIO cards. Just make sure you carry your valid passport as well as the old passport endorsed on the PIO card.
    2. You do not have time to get OCI. You will have to give it a 3 month margin for processing, based on current trends. You will have to renounce your Indian passport before applying for the OCI cards.
    3. There is a helpful link posted by guthiwari, about the latest update for the PIO to OCI issue.

I see that Embassy website says that they can travel on PIO card.

-- What about the properties held in India including bank accounts and DEMAT accounts. Do i have to do anything like closing/liquidating before i renunciation my Indian Pass Port?
