  • OCI - No birth cert and passport for parents - What to submit?

Hi. I'm applying for OCI based on the fact that my parents were Indian citizens. I was born in the US. My parents don't have birth certificates and they no longer have their Indian passports. To prove their Indian origin, I submitted affidavits and school-leaving certificates.

I submitted my OCI application to CKGS NY and it was accepted. However, the Indian embassy has responded saying, "The documents you provided are not adequate according to the Indian consulate. You need to provide Indian Government documents of your parents which mention their previous Indian nationality. Affidavits are not acceptable."

Has anyone else experienced this? What would you submit next if you were me?

    Thanks.

Any chance you can get birth certificates of your grandparents?

Thanks for replying. I just emailed [email protected]. Looking forward to a response.

Regarding my grandparents, no birth certificates are available for them either.
