Hi,
I am US passport holder living in India. I have a UK travel to coming up on the 3rd week of July, till first week of Aug. I am applying for passport renewal this week as my passport is getting expired on mid Oct 2015. The Chennai consulate says it usually get the passport processed in 7-10 business days. So I hope I get the passport back by June end. However, I will not get enough time to get a new OCI visa stamped on the new passport. So here are some questions I have:
- Will US send me back the old passport with the OCI visa on it?
- Is it ok that the OCI visa is on the old passport, for entry back into India?
- Am I better off by applying for renewal after my trip to UK?
- Say I don't renew my passport now. Will entry back into India create any issue as my passport is only 2 more months valid when I enter back from UK.
- Say I don't renew my passport now. Is it problematic for UK entry with a passport of less than 3 months validity?
