OCI - PASSPORT Matchup..Walkin possible?

Hello,
I have applied for OCI, Which was acknowledged by CKGS on March 21. The website says that it takes 42 days until passport matchup, but, really it has been over 80 days.
Online status says. "Documents Printed on May 22 for the last 10 days.
I have a travel planned to India on 25th of this month.
God knows when the card will be shipped from New Delhi and when it will be received in SFO. Even if they receive in next week or so, I am not sure if I can send it for match up as they say it may take 2 weeks or so.

Lets say if I receive the confirmation for match up in next week or 2 weeks, is it possible to go to either CKGS or Consulate and get it done personally?
My confidence in this whole process is weaning and I would probably get a visa instead of sending in my passport and get stuck.
Appreciate any pointers.

I am in the same state and am contemplating going the visa route. For me the document printed status is May 20th. I don't think we can get matchup done the same day. Here is the response I got from CKGS. This whole process is horribly inefficient.

I think SFO is so backed up. In my case the status says SFO consulate received it but never got the email notification to send the passport. Contacted CKGS and asked to mail the passport with the copy of status page. They received it last week but still no status update.

Ouch. Its like a black hole. No correct answer with anybody. So, frustrating. its been 12 days and my status still shows as docents printed date. God knows when they will update and send the document back to SFO.

This entire process sucks and very inefficient.
I emailed to CKGS separately, the response was prompt but no useful information.
I am going to apply for Visa on Arrival, which costs only 60$ and at least hassle free.
I don't want to trust my PP sending in for stamping and expecting them to return it in 2 weeks.

Visa on arrival is only 30 days right ? Are there options to extend beyond 30 days? I need visa for 60 days.

I had an extremely poor experience with my sons OCI card. I applied back in February with an acceptance date of March 4th. I received an email asking for Passport match-up around May 26th. Once that was sent CKGS then sent it to the Consulate. The Consulate completed the review and the status on CKGS website reads "The Embassy / Consulate has reviewed your application and is currently is in transit to the CKGS Application Centre. Please continue tracking your application status online.". However CKGS claims that they only received the Passport without the OCI card and is requesting us to fill out a passport withdrawal form to receive the passport back. It appears the OCI card has either been left back at the Consulate or mis-placed. The point is I expect CKGS or the Consulate to resolve this issue without putting the customer at risk. Its so unfortunate that I decided to go the OCI route for my son. My travel plans have been screwed up already. I would have settled for an Indian visa had I known of this bureaucracy. The point I am trying to make is if CKGS is the point of contact, they should put every effort to resolve cases, not just act as a mediator.
