OCI card - Match up of OCI Cards with your Current Passport at Embassy / Consulate
Hello experts,
Please help with this quick qn on Match up of OCI Cards with the Current Passport at Embassy / Consulate.
My wife and myself are Indian citizens working in USA. We would like to apply OCI card for our newly born (in USA) child. However, we may have to travel to India (planning to apply for an Indian tourist visa for my child) before OCI card process is complete. I would like to know how long the match up of OCI Cards with the Current Passport can be on hold? I would like to get the OCI card after we travel back to US.
Following are some example dates about OCI card application, and our travel plans.
19-Jun-2015 --> Planning to submit OCI application (USA passport holder-Minior ) to CKGS, San Francisco.
01-Aug-2015 --> Possible travel to India, and will comeback to USA approximately sometime Jan 2016.
I am hoping that OCI card will be printed and will be ready for passport matchup by around mid or late Aug 2015 (assuming 2 months time). So, I would like to know if CKGS/Indian Embassy can hold the passport matchup process until Jan 2016?
Note: I know that I can apply for OCI card while my child is in India. However, I have heard that its easier to apply from USA. So, I dont want to apply in India.
