I am a green card holder and live in US. My son born in US. Can I apply India Dual Citizenship for my son? Are there any problems to his US citizenship If he takes India Dual Citizenship?

Originally posted by NishantA person of Indian origin who was born outside India can apply for OCI even if one of his/her grandparent were citizen of india or held Indian passport any time.
But also note that (a) OCI is not dual citizenship, India does not allow it and today there is no such thing as Indian Dual Citizenship, despite what you may have heard. (b) US frowns on dual citizenship, but allows it. They currently do not regard OCI as dual citizenship.

If you get your child an Indian passport, there are no problems for his US citizenship. The US will continue to view the child as a US citizen. However, when you travel abroad with the child, the US will apply its passport laws and insist that you use a US passport. That would cause the child to lose Indian citizenship.
If you get the child an "overseas citizen of India" card, it has no bearing whatsoever on US citizenship. The earlier poster is correct that "overseas citizen of India" is not a true form of citizenship. In fact, India even REQUIRES the holder of overseas citizenship to enter India on a foreign passport and keep the passport up to date. If a person enters India with a US passport, clearly the US is going to view that person as a US citizen and provide all consular services.
Hope this helps,
Tamtom
