Passport extension and stamping

Hello,

I have my VISA stamped on my passport till OCT 2016. But my passport is going to expire in JUN 2016. I am visiting India in JAN 2016. So, I am thinking to renew my passport before going to India.
My question here is, Do I need to go for stamping if I renew my passport before going to India? wouldn't it be enough if I carry both passports(old n new)?
