  • OCI eligibility

I read in the OCI section that only if atleast one parent is a foreign citizen, the child will be eligible for OCI. My son was born in the US and has US passport. We took PIO card for him. I believe he is not eligible for OCI because neither both his parents are Indian. But I also read in some sections that PIO card will not be valid after Sep 30th. What should we do ? Should we apply for OCI ? Please advise.

As long as the kid is of Indian origin, you can apply for OCI for him. (Provided he is not of Pakistani, Bangladeshi origin etc. by means of any parent).

Even if both parents are Indian citizen, US citizen child can still be eligible for OCI now.
