  • Confusing instructions for OCI applications - Renunciation certificate, photographs

I would appreciate any help on these questions relating to the OCI application -

    1. When you fill up the online application - it states that you can upload the photographs and documents - but in the instructions, it says you have to print and mail the application - does anything need to be uploaded at all, or is the whole 'upload' stuff just irrelevant?

    2. In one of the instructions pages - http://www.in.ckgs.us/oci/oci-catego...us-adult.shtml - it states -
If you already have a Renunciation Certificate or if you have a "Cancelled on Acquisition of Foreign Citizenship" Stamp on your most recent Indian passport, then
you DO NOT need to apply / re-apply for a Renunciation Certificate.

But - in the document checklist, it says that you must apply for Renunciation certificate - is there any conclusive answer? Our passports have the stamp that says 'Passport Cancelled as Acquired US Nationality'

    3. In Part B - question 29 - Date and method acquisition of present nationality - what is the option that should be chosen for a person who is now an adult, but who became a US citizen when he was a minor, based on his parents becoming naturalized? The dropdown list doesn't seem to have an appropriate option for that

Thanks in advance for any help.

---No need to upload photos or documents. I'm not sure if they will use it.

---- Follow the instructions. you don't need renunciation certificate. Make sure to attach the photocopy of the passport.

----It is safe to pick 'Naturalization' . Make sure to include information about your parent's naturalization/copy etc. You may confirm this with CKGS to be sure.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I was at CKGS Atlanta Today and they noted this is redundant as it doesn't apply to applicants in US.

      Hope it helps.
