Can I get back Indian Passport back after renouncing Indian Citizenship

Hi: I am an Indian citizen and am exploring whether to get citizenship in my current country of residence (US). Given India does not allow dual citizenship, i will have to surrender my Indian passport. I understand that I can get OCI status which is good for most practical purposes. But my question is: DO I HAVE THE OPTION TO GET BACK MY INDIAN CITIZENSHIP AND MY INDIAN PASSPORT AGAIN (assuming I renounce my US citizenship in future)? ARE THERE CERTAIN TIME RESTRICTIONS (amount of time I have to wait before I can apply to get back Indian passport)? What is the procedure for the same? Any help on this will be much appreciated.
