  • PIO Status Once Husband Renouces Indian Citizenship

I applied for and received a PIO card when my husband held an Indian passport and was a US Green Card holder two years ago. This summer, my husband became a U.S. citizen. He has yet to renounce his Indian citizenship. However, he is traveling to India in early December and plans to do the following: renounce his Indian citizenship, apply for OCI status, and get an Indian visa for travel as he will be using his US Passport. I will be traveling to India in late December to meet him there. Can I still use my PIO card? Will I need to reapply given his new status? Do I need to obtain an Indian visa as a backup so I am not turned around upon entry to India? Do I actually mess up my own status by getting a back-up evisa? Note: this will be a single entry, less than 30 days for tourism/family visits. Thanks in advance!
