New Online OCI process_Is CKGS involved any more?

Today I completed part A and B of OCI online application (for minor) and after uploading some of the relevant documents was able to print out the OCI registration form. If I read the application instructions pages, it seem that I have to send the form with supporting documents and fees directly to the Indian Mission and pick up the OCI directly at the Mission.
Nowhere it says that I have to submit to CKGS. But CKGS website talks about submitting over there and even their document requirements is more exhaustive. So I suspect that it may be the old way and they have not updated the requirements
Any thoughts?

What is the update you from CKGS email?.

Since existing PIO cards are valid for lifetime, shouldnt we just send PIO card and consulate send us back OCI card?. Why we need to go thru all the steps and submit so many documents again?. Isnt this making waste of papers, lot of work for embassy folks etc?

do not send any documents to consulate directly, consulate general of san francisco is not processing any application for VISA, OCI or Renunciation at all, your application will be delay to send back to CKGS and supporting document may pending if follow the Consulate checklist, their check is is way out of date, and not for your jurisdiction. all supporting documents, application and payment must to CKGS.
