    Hi Santosh,
Hope you had a resolution to this issue. I am going through the same issue now when I try to book an appointment or make payment in CKGS web site for our OCI applications - 2 Adults and 2 Minors - with Web Reference number, countless calls to CKGS customer service only resulted in wasted time, phone minutes, and frustration but no resolution.

Please, if you had a resolution to this post it here and it will be immensely helpful.

    Thanks

          Notarization of Birth Certificate!

          Hi-

Both my kids are US born and me and my wife are naturalized US citizens. We got our OCI card and now getting ready to apply to change the existing PIO card to OCI for my kids. My CKGS center for submitting application is San Francisco.

In the list of documents, there is a requirement for the “Notarized copy of birth certificate”. In CA as per law, birth certificate cannot be notarized. Can you please guide me how to proceed further? Going in person to the SF CKGS will help? I am confused on how to move forward. Sent a message from CKGS website yesterday. No response yet. Just now sent an email with this same question as well.

          Thanks for your help.

          Best Regards,
          Subramanian Venkatachalam

                PIO vs OCI for minors

Me and my husband were born in India and have acquired US citizenship. Both my kids have PIO Cards.
Do they need OCI or can they still continue visiting India on their PIO cards. The question arises as per the new rule which
Mandates converting to OCI and the deadline is June 30th. Please confirm.

Unless you have plans to travel in the next couple of months, it is better to get OCI for them. I know it is a painful process but it is one less thing to worry about when you travel.

Birth certificate notarization means both the parents need to sign online minor's birth certificate. Thats all!

It is your choice to get a VISA or OCI. FYI OCI/PIO has been there for years and not recently introduced. They are just trying to get rid of one which they should have done it long time back.
