  • Indian Citizenship for child born in US

My son was born in US in December 2015 as I had to travel with my family due to work. But I will be travelling back in a year and I do not want my son to hold UD passport/citizenship. Following are my questions:

    1. Indian consulate asks to submit the registration of birth request with original birth certificate. Is this the birth certificate issued by state (lets say California) which I am supposed to apply for after i receive SSN ?
    2. Once Indian birth certificate and Indian passport is obtained, I want the US citizenship to be completely renounced. I have no long term plans to stay here.
    3. If I happen to ever travel back to US or lets say we go back on vacation and again come back, will my child be given a US visa or there will be a some US law that will stop him because he should have US passport ?

why don't apply OCI for your newborn baby? so he can stay, study and work with no issues, unless you dislike he holding u.s citizenship.

    best regards
