  • PIO Card

    Hello All,

I am planning to travel to India in April 2016. My daughter has a PIO card (Issue Date: Oct 2012) valid till Aug 2027. Do I need to apply for OCI card, since the PIO was applied before Jan 8 2015. I was planning to do that after I return from India.

Is PIO card not valid anymore?

Also, can I apply for Entry visa instead of tourist visa?

    Thanks

PIO card (even if it is stamped lifelong) is valid for sure until 31/03/2016. After that date, nobody knows if it is. Typical babu bureaucracy. So to be on the safe side, apply of OCI in lieu of PIO ASAP.

        Thanks for the reply.

I am planning to apply as soon as I come back from India. I believe the OCI takes 45 days and I had to leave for India before.

So, can I go India now (March 15) and when I come back (June 15) I apply for OCI card then. Will there be any issue during my stay in India?

        Thanks
        Sachin
