I have been getting tourist visas last few years to visit him and we were married in Sept in Kashmir, and the marriage was registered. I am a Canadian living in Canada and he is Indian. (I am not Indian descent). I know I can apply for OCI but only after 24 months. In the mean time can I apply for Entry Visa with 5 year validity multiple entry so I don't have to keep getting tourist visas, which only good for 6 months and require coming back to Canada to re-apply again (plus I think there is a 2 month exile now on tourist visas before you can go back to India). I'd like to spend more time with my husband and getting him to Canada may take upwards of 18 months to get his PR card for here. And Canada doesnt give tourist visas to Indians... very easily anwyay, especially ones married to someone in Canada (they view it as a risk of overstay). So does India expect me to keep having to survive on tourist visas for the next 24 months, or can I apply fo entry visa with 5 year multiple entries in the mean time while I wait for the 24 months to pass (plus application time etc)?? Entry Visa means I could go there and stay for a lot longer like 8 months etc. Its very hard being away from each other!!
On the BLS website for India Visa application in Canada, it says that Entry visa is open to spouses of people working in India on work visa... (for example Canadian who is working in India, their spouse can get entry visa) but it says nothing about a Canadian married to an actual Indian National still living in India.
Thanks for any info!
