  • Notarization of Birth Certificate - SF bay area!

    Hi-

Both my kids are US born and me and my wife are naturalized US citizens. We got our OCI card and now getting ready to apply to change the existing PIO card to OCI for my kids. My daughter was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana and my son in Pleasanton, CA. My CKGS center for submitting application is San Francisco.

In the list of documents, there is a requirement for the “Notarized copy of birth certificate”. In CA as per law, birth certificates can never be notarized. Can you please guide me how to proceed further? I sent a message to CKGS from their website yesterday and so far not heard back from them. Also, today I sent an email. When I called, they say I need to submit a notarized copy. If no one notarizes I am not sure how can I submit.

Anybody underwent the same situation? What is the way out? Going in person to CKGS-SF helps?

    Thanks for your help.

    Best Regards,
    Subramanian Venkatachalam

What about parents signature on application form?
What about Proof of address notarization?
          What about Greencard/H1 notarization?

Could anyone please clarify who applied and were successful in the recent past?

Proof of address is your driver's license.
            Green card copy.
Copies of Both can be notarized as "true copy".
            I have done it

I think in any state all vital records are to be obtained as certified copies. You can get a "Certified copy" from the county clerk. That should be good.
