OCI application - minor - checklist

I am applying for my kid's (5 years) OCI In lieu of PIO card and have come across the following checklist: https://www.in.ckgs.us/resources/pdf...d-us-minor.pdf (applying in Washington - USA post).

I am a little confused as I had been told by a friend that we do not have to send the original US passport right with the application, but this checklist seems to be asking for it. It also seems to be asking for original Indian passports of parents (Step 7). I was told that the original US passport is required in the latter Matchup stage and there is no need to send parents original passports.

Can someone please let me know if this is not the checklist I should be following or if the rules have changed and we should send original passports of everyone? I am not sure if we should be sending all the passports and wait for OCI (my friend got his OCI after 5 months). Please let me know if I am reading it wrong.

Thank you for the reply. Just want to make sure... so there is no sending of passports only in Matchup process anymore? We should send the original passports right at the first step of submitting the application?
Also, should we really send both parents original passports also? I am taking some help from a few friends I know and none of them had sent them.

only the time for physical passport is during the match up, do not send and passport for verification during the initial process

Then what about (Step 7) in the initial process checklist. I called ckgs and he told to go ahead and send parents original passports.

don't listen to the idiot call center of CKGS, they all not trained properly. listen, if you are San Francisco jurisdiction no original unless is applying misc. ( oci card and u-visa ppt) or renunciation (latest indian ppt)

according to new update from Indian Embassy of Washington DC, no more original documents are required for initial process, this change is apply to nationwide. the checklist from ckgs is never up to date and never 100% accurate. well, you can choose not listen to me, send the original Passport and PIO card with application, make sure provide additional return courier and you choose to have additional risk on your original documents which you can definitely avoid if not sent.
