OCI match up process

Hi,

My daughter has a valid PIO card (With lifetime validity stamp) and I applied for the OCI on 28th Jan 2016.

I just got an email from CKGS yesterday that "Your OCI Card has been ‘Received’ in the Indian Embassy / Consulate and is ‘Ready to be Matched - Up’ with your original US / Foreign Passport."

I have read lot of messages in this forum regarding lost/misplaced passport by CKGS and that's the question I have.

My wife's & daughter's travel date is 4th April which is 2 weeks from today. Shall I go ahead and start the OCI match process now and hope to get the passport back safely before 4th April OR shall I let my daughter travel on PIO for now & start the OCI match up process once they are back from India trip by end of May ?

I would just travel with PIO as the match up process is really cutting close to your travel date.

I just saw your post. I am in the same boat. So wanted to make an easy experience for you. Chicago consulate. I applied for OCI IN LIEU OF PIO for 1 minor. And NEW OCI for 2nd minor.
We sent our documents on February 15. CKGS sent us a message on 18 February that they received the OCI APPLICATION ANS ITS UNDER PROCESS. Feb 23- ckgs message that its on hold due to missing documents. Documents submitted the same day. 26 February- ckgs messaged about PASSPORT WITHDRAWAL. Received my passports and name change documents on march 1. On 7th march- we got another message stating our OCI cards have been sent to Delhi. 21 march- OCI CARD PRINTED. 25th march- request for passports for match up process.

Glad that you are starting to track this. My acknowledgement date is 1 st arch and as of 7th March CKGS NYC sent documents to New Delhi.No change in the CKGS tracking or GOI OCI status. Interestingly syeda seems to have the same dates but got the OCI status change. Hopefully by next week my status will change.

The status changed to "PROCESSED" on the OCI GOI website for both myself and my daughter. My application date and acknowledgment are mentioned somewhere along this thread. Hopefully it will change to "DISPATCHED" in the next couple days.

I and my minor daughter got our OCI yesterday by Fedex from CKGS NYC. It took about 44 days and the process seemed glitch free. Nobody lost our passports which was a source of worry , based on the inputs from some forum posters. My acknowledgement date was 1st March, applications sent to India on 7th March and the OCI cards were dispatched on 24th March. This seems to be the timeline for others in the tracker.
Best of luck to others in their OCI journey. I will need to come back to this forum later since I am waiting on my wife and son's Naturalization completion.
