Passport renewal while divorce case in court
Hi,
I’m in US on H1B visa since last two years and my passport expires next month. So I need to apply for reissue of passport (my old passport shows me as SINGLE as it was obtained 10 years ago)
But I have a divorce case filed in court and I have not been granted divorce yet. I never brought her to US or filed a visa for her as we were separated for last three years but I filed my divorce only last year.
As per passport rules, if the applicant’s spouse name is not included in the passport, while renewing it has to be included. Now my problem is I cannot apply for renewal as ‘Married’ as she would not give her passport copy (I don’t have her passport copy) to apply. And I cannot apply as ‘Single’ as I’m still legally married.
Please help me on how should I proceed.
