PIO in lieu of OCI for kid living in Overseas

My son who is 3 years old is currently living in India. We are planning to bring him next year. I was wondering if i can apply for OCI to PIO conversion from India.
Please let me know if any have done this or any other inputs on how to proceed.

if your currently reside at India, yes can apply in India, contact local FRRO for instruction
