My dad has to undergo a major surgery in India and I'm traveling to India in the 1st week of June with my kids.
My daughter is a minor and a US citizen by birth. She has a valid PIO card issued in September 2013 and valid until 2023. We are planning to visit India on June 4 and stay there until July 30th, 2016. I want to verify that she is allowed to travel to India using this PIO card?
I am confused because I recently read about requirement of OCI card instead of PIO cards. The website also mentioned that the deadline to apply for OCI in lieu of PIO is June 30th 2016. If I decide to not apply for the OCI card until we come back to US (end of July) will there be any issue for her travel? Both me and my husband are Indian nationals. I do not mind paying money or extra charge for the OCI card later as long as this travel itself has no issue.
I am not sure what my next step needs to be if any.
