I am applying for OCI to Houston consulate, the document checklist is confusing.
Me and my wife were Indian citizens and naturalized US citizens.
Do I need to send the original marriage certificate, if yes then what will my wife send with her application.
Do I send the renunciation and old Indian passport in original.
What about the US passport, earlier they used to say don't send US passport and send during match up, but now when I see document checklist it says send original and self attested copy.
I read that in Houston it is taking 80 days to process OCI, I feel very uncomfortable sending all the originals to them.
Any experiences, ideas.
Thanks

Why do they have different processes for each consulate as if each of them are different fiefdoms, just standardize the process will make it easier for every one including the embassy staff.
Ideal scenario would be have an online form and then upload all docs needed similar to most businesses do, and after processing, just ask for any originals needed by post.
