  • India Employment Visa

I am an Australian Citizen living in Australia, looking to find employment in India. I have reviewed the "India Employment Visa" page and have an inquiry regarding section 5 of the conditions, "The employee's salary must be in excess of U.S $25,000 per year. However, this conditions does not apply to: (a) Ethnic cooks, (b) Language Teachers (other than English language teachers) / translators and (c) Staff working for the concerned Embassy/High Commission in India."

Several jobs that I have looked at in the education field, in a non-teaching role, pay approximately U.S $15,000 a year, but provide accommodation as part of the employment package. Can you please advise if this arrangement would prevent me from successfully obtaining an Employment Visa to work India?

      Hello proonindiandoc,

I am sorry I don't quite understand what your post is saying.

I am an Australian Citizen living in Australia, looking to travel to India on an Indian Employment Visa, not a volunteer or internship. I looked on the immigration website and it states that in order to be granted an Employment Visa in India, I am required to find a job that pays a minimum of $25,000 US a year. The jobs I have seen so far that I would be eligible to apply for pay around $15,000 US a year, but provide free accommodation. Does being provided free accommodation in an employment package, add to the salary? for example, if you are being paid $15,000 US a year, and the cost of accommodation they are providing is say $3,000 US a year, does immigration calculate the income as being $18,000?

Also what do you mean by "don't check with government website, you must check with the authorized party's website'?

Thank you in advance for your time.

      Kind regards
