Indian Passport Renewal Process

Hello all,

I have been living in USA for about 8 years now; I am a Green Card holder. I want to renew my Indian Passport. During Passport renewal process, will passport be sent to India for verification?

Unlikely to be physically shipped to India, but it's routine for passport details to be cross-checked by the Indian government before a new one is issued.
