e-TV vs Tourist Visa or OCI for US minor child of Indian Parents

Hello,

We (myself and wife) are Indian citizens in US on J visas and have a 9month old baby girl who is a US citizen.

We are travelling to India in October 2016 for 20 days and need to decide on the best option (e-TV vs regular tourist visa or OCI) as there are only 2 months left.

From reading extensively on internet, it is clear that the process and time for both regular Indian visa and OCI application (through CKGS) are highly complicated and long (at least 2 months). On the other hand, e-Tourist Visa (eTV) allows you to visit for less than 30 days with an online application.

I will greatly appreciate if anybody may please share their experience in applying and using eTV for minor child while travelling to India?

On a different note, it will also be helpful if anyone may share their experience of applying and getting (?time it took) Indian Tourist/Entry Visa for their US citizen child?

You should apply for the regular 10 year visa so that you don't have to worry about it for another 10 years.

I don't know if the processing time is different for children, but I know that for an adult who applied to the SF location (via mail), it took less than 10 days door-to-door (including the transit time via mail)

OCI will be a bit risky because 60 days is best case.

if for tourists purpose then you should only apply tourist visa for 5/10 years, turn around time is same for both adult and minor
