I helped somebody to apply for oci on the basis of spouse rule; requirment is Marriage Certificte (registration) OCi of spouse and copies of documents of which oci was granted to husband/wife. here the case is of a wife of a
oci Holder. We applied to the High Commission of India, London through VFS, the application is kept on hold for want of birth certificate, which is not even mentioned in the oci Brochure at Rule no. 6(iii). To this we have represented why she has no birth certificate, however her birth details are there in the British Registration Certificate. Place, Date of Birth etc. To prove here Indian Origin , we submitted her Indian Passport, which has 4 names of children but not her as she was born after, when her monther obtained Ugandan Passport; in which Her Name is stated and endorsed by Gov.of Uganda with birth date. Indian and Ugandan Passport are linked. the name on it is the Same i.e. Molthers name with Father name on it in both . Howerver, the
High Commission of india London - oc team are not convinced to believe that she is the daughter of Indian Born Mother. Marrige certificate has only the name of Father, which is also shown on both the passprots Indian and Ugandan Passport, at the end of Mothers name. STill the case is delayed for grant of oci to the applicant.

    Hi.

First of all, let me say that you are one of many that feel deeply frustrated by the "madness" going on (actually around the world) in the Indian Visa sections and FRRO offices in India.

I am not Indian myself but have consulted on a few cases as I work with immigration cases primarily from India. In one case I had an affidavit made up for a person born of an Indian in a African country, this was done by the First Secretary of the embassy from the African country in question, and was at that point taken and approved by the receiving party of the application for OCI.

Good luck (you might need it).

    Kind Regards,

    Jon

      Hi Jon

Thanks for your suggestion, but to convince HCI, is difficult, you know in India, they have allowed about 14/15 affdavits, for Indian Passport, but if you are abroad, they want to test
everying thing, before they decide and accept granting of OCI.

      Thanks again
