  • Applying for India visa for wife who has become American citizen

    Hello,

I am applying for an Indian entry visa through ckgs site for my indian wife who has become an american citizen and now has an american pasport and we need to travel to india to take part in her sisters wedding in december. The questions i have are

1)The visa checklist docs through ckgs mention that we need to send copies of her parents indian passports. Her parents are also now american citizen through naturalization and they tell me they can't find their indian passports and they also think when they submitted their reunciation certificate they gave their indian passports and dont think they ever got it back. So what do i do for this step if i cant submit copies of my wifes parents indian passport.

    2) Secondly the most confusing thing of all. I paid for ckgs shipping through their site, but in the checklist on last line 10 it mentions that to send

prepaid envelope with shipment number and to not send fedex prepaid self addressed envelopes and shipping labels will not be accepted.

So my question is since i paid for ckgs shipping i dont need to send any sort of additional pre paid envelope right ? CKGS will use their envelope and send my wife's american passport and additional docs back through their own envelope. Or does it mean i still need to send a prepaid envelope which is not fedex, possibly ups or something ??

    That makes sense

That would make sense that you don’t have to do that, and that they had their own envelopes. I did it in UK and did not have to add one as they had their own that they sent out. I was completely confused. Not sure what its like in the US. I had a bunch of questions and found the oci and visa help desk at visahelpdesk.net online. Took just a few minutes to get an answer. Kept using them for my son as well and got the OCI.
