Both my husband and me applied at the same time but they sent back my husband's OCI, but for mine they say "Application is under process at the Embassy / Consulate for further scrutinization and yeamay take upto 6 to 8 weeks for next update" - what does this mean? Do they randomly pick certain applications for further scrutiny? I wanted to visit my mom in this DEC 2016. I applied for PIO 2 yrs ago and got it. Even this was lot of paperwork. Then Modi says that PIO is the same as OCI to make things for indian living abroad. Ofcourse the immigration understood this as "Let's make more money out of this"...and now I have to apply all over again for OCI otherwise my PIO will become invalid. Of course now with this scrutiny I cannot go see my mom because it is going to take another 2 months to get my OCI..hopefully. Please let me know what this scrutiny means - do they check for something specific, if you have any experience with this?
