  • New OCI application - Help

    Hello All-

Applying for an OCI card for myself and have a few questions that's confusing me on the check list form - pro **** ly some of you could help clarify

    - On ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS FORM -what exactly should i strike out (Both me and my wife acquired US citizenship thru naturalization)
I am applying for a OCI card (strike off whichever not applicable) -
    (a) as a spouse of an Indian origin person.
    (b) not as a spouse of Indian origin person.

    - For self attesting-
Can i just write "self attested" and sign under it.

    - Sworn Affidavit - Sworn Affidavit of spouse is required if the spouse of an applicant is a foreign national.(Due i need to fill this up since my spouse is now US national - she hasnt applied for oci yet)

-Marriage certificate - what does the below mean, is there a different form for this?
Applicant must provide Notarized Joint Statement signed by couple stating :-
They were married 2 years prior to the submission of the OCI application

    Any help would be appricated.

Are you ethnically Indian? I mean were you ever an Indian citizen by birth? Or were your parents/grandparents Indian citizens by birth? If none of these apply, and you are applying as a spouse of an ethnic Indian, then you are currently ineligible for an OCI. Your spouse must obtain an OCI card first. One of the requirements for a foreign spouse OCI application is that you must upload a pdf copy of your spouse's OCI card to the Indian government website handling OCI applications.
