PIO travel to india for employment

Hi,

I am a US citizen and a person of Indian origin. I have a job offer from an organization in India and am having to leave quickly. I do not have my OCI card yet.

1. Is Employment visa my only option?

2. Could I travel on Tourist visa and apply for OCI in India? Would I be able to work while my OCI is in process?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

1. PIO card you can work in India, same function as OCI card, only different is can't purchase Estate.
2. you can't apply for OCI card as tourism, and you can't work as tourism

Actually I am sorry if the question was not clear.

I am currently residing in the US and I have received a job offer from an Indian organization. I am a US citizen of Indian origin. But, I do not have my OCI/PIO card yet. My joining date is in 45 days and I will not be able to obtain my OCI card in time before that.

Could I apply for a 3/6-month employment visa in order to arrive in India on time?

Also, once I am in India, could I apply for OCI through the concerned FRRO office in India?

apologize for the misunderstood from the last post. Yes, you will need to apply employment visa, and then use your Indian origin status to apply for OCI in India.
