Are OCIs/PIOs stuck with their Rs.500, 1000 notes?
It looks like even with the current extension of June 30, 2017 to exchange old Indian currency in India, RBI has said this facility is not extended to OCIs and PIOs, meaning OCIs and PIOs cannot change their demonetized Indian currency.
After getting his OCI, my dad was planning to make a trip to India, and exchanging his old notes was a priority for him. This is really unfair that Modi's Govt has excluded OCIs/PIOs. Did anyone in those categories recently travel to India and successfully change their old notes? I would like you to post your money changing experience in India, so it would help others in the same situation.
