OCI Processing Procedure?

TL;DR; What is the current newest processing procedure to get your OCI card in your hand?


I had applied for OCI card which is issued and arrived in US - Houston CGI office.

I got an email from Houston CGI to send original passport and self-labeled return envelop.

The situation is when I applied through CKGS I had paid for two shipment from my home to CKGS and one for return shipment. So does the second shipment cost and return shipment is worthless now as I have to send my passport to CGI and not to CKGS? Plus, it request I send my own self-labeled return envelop, is the return shipment I paid to CKGS worthless too?

Anyone with recent OCI experience from Houston CGI.

If you are appying for new OCI, you should not send you current passport for matchup. only if you are appying for OCI in lieu of PIO or OCI re-issue.

I have recently applied OCI for my son. As the process have changed I sent the original US passport along with application and they returned it in 10 days. I expected some Visa kind of thing/some stamping on the Visa, but its was returned as it is. In general will the US passport have any entry related to OCI?

The US PP is asked in this process just for verification. They used to place a stamp on the US PP earlier, but they don't do that anymore. OCI card is all you get back from CKGS/CGI.
