  • For OCI in lieu of PIO conversion, am I required to go through CKGS?

I am a US citizen with a PIO card. To convert from PIO to OCI, am I required to go through CKGS, or can I do this directly with the consulate and/or government website?

Also, is anyone able to download the checklist from this site: http://ww2.in.ckgs.us/oci_old/oci-ca...us-adult.shtml

I am receiving the following error: "The page you're looking for isn't here.."

I got the same error. It's an old link.
The only way you get to see the doc list is when you are done with the entire online application, you click on 'My account' and it will show you all the docs/details you need to send with the application.
      Application Center: CKGS NY
      OCI
Feb 3, 2017 -Application Received & Verification Complete
Feb 6 -'Under Process' at CKGS
Feb 7 -In-Transit & Under Process at Consulate
Feb 8 -Govt of India: Date Of Acknowledgment
      -Documents Printing Status: UNDER-PROCESS

      RENUNCIATION
Feb 3,2017 -Application Received & Verification Complete
Feb 6 -'Under Process' at CKGS
Feb 7 -In-Transit & Under Process at Consulate
Feb 8 -'Reviewed' by Consulate and ‘In Transit’ to CKGS

        Thank you.

I also cannot download the Matchup Request Form for my jurisdiction - another bad link: http://ww2.in.ckgs.us/oci_old/oci-ca...us-adult.shtml

A case study of the kind of inefficiency that a government granted monopoly engenders.

Rather than deal with the issues raised, CKGS asks me to email [email protected], which I do. Their response?

            "Thank you for contacting CKGS.

To register your Enquiry / Feedback / Complaint with us, please click on www.in.ckgs.us/feedback and submit your query. "

Now let us imagine a world in which the government has enlisted 5 different companies to provide these services. Does anyone think the process to get anything fixed would be this convoluted? Nothing like the sharp knife of competition to cut through poor service and inefficient processes.

AFAIK, CKGS is the sole agent in the U.S... All OCI processing goes through CKGS. They submit to the Consulate.

Cannot submit OCI application directly to Consulate.

If your Jurisdiction is NY CGI, then Matchup Request stands void for OCI in lieu of PIO category. I meant there is no match up request for NY CGI for OCI in lieu of PIO. I'm not sure about other Jurisdiction and category.
