  • applying for OCI-Card in lieu of PIO Card

We are applying for OCI card in lieu of PIO card. On the first page it asked to upload Applicant's image and Applicant's signature image during OCI-Registration. Does it mean scanned passport size photo? Also, what does it mean by applicant's signature image? My kid is little, does she need to sign on passport size photo and then we need to scan it and upload it? Sorry for asking all these stupid questions.

Scanned or preferably soft copy of applicant's photo. Yes, ask your kid to sign on a paper, scan and upload. If your kid is below 5 years then you have to upload the thumb impression of the kid (Left Thumb impression for Boys & Right Thumb impression for girls).

Thanks a lot pavithara. Does signature photo mean signature on a white paper and upload that pic? I was thinking signature on passport size photo and scan it and upload it.

Yes, signature on a white paper, scan and upload. No signature required on passport size photo but the kid need to sign below the passport size photo within the box below

signature from the applicant to upload, mean to sign on a white background of paper and upload. if the minor applicant is an age of 5 or up, must sign on the application part A, not thumbprint.

Is conversion mandatory? We are travelling in May (staying till August). Can we just use PIO card and new US passports?.

We couldnt not apply for conversion as we got H1 extn (for parents) recently and new US passport (for Kids) for recently.

Confirm validity of PIO card. And remember to carry the old passport when PIO card was issued. Both my sons visited India in December 2016 on PIO Card and two passports.
