US passport with OCI Card

I am going to apply for OCI card for my kid. As I have to send the original US passport with the application, do you know if I will only get the US passport back along with OCI card after the process is complete OR I will get the US passport back first before the OCI card.

In our case (OCI in lieu of PIO), we got the passport along with the new OCI. We received OCI in 14 Business Days (from receipt of our documents in CKGS) from NY Jurisdiction.

Thanks for the response. I was trying to see if the processing takes much longer , is it possible to get the US passport back first before the OCI card, or it will always come with the OCI card only.

Yes we just applied in San Francisco and the processing time is 60 days. The CKGS agent said we should get the original passport back in 15 days.

They don't stamp US passport with OCI "U" visa sticker anymore. You only get the OCI booklet back. I recently applied at SFO for my kids and got the US passport back within 10 days, but OCI takes longer. So when you apply you will be required to send the original US passport with the application.
