renewing expired indian passport with pending green card application...

Hi folks,

I am presently out of status with a pending green card application, which is taking years. I have an expired passport with a expired visa and would like to renew the passport. I have heard that to renew a indian passport in the US, we have to show valid legal status. I do not have any EAD or any status apart from waiting for the green to be approved. How do i get my passport renewed. Please help. Thank you

I think you may be able to renew passport if you have USCIS Form I-797 showing that your greencard application is in process.

You are out of status. Its an immigration issue. You may have to contact an immigration lawyer.
