The documents to be submitted varies depending on a few things:

    1. If the applicant is a minor
    2. If the applicant ever held an Indian passport

For a minor born in the US to Indian parents, these are the docs required:

    - Proof of Indian origin - copy of parents last Indian passport
    - Proof of relationship to Indian parents - Minor's birth certificate with parents name
    - Proof of current nationality - Minor's US passport
    - Parent's marriage certificate

In case of an adult naturalized US citizen, they require:

    - Proof of Indian origin - copy of last Indian passport
    - Proof of current nationality - copy of US passport
    - Marriage certificate

On the document upload page, they have a drop down list of all the category of docs to be submitted. That is a good way to make sure you don't miss anything.

    Hope this helps.

Does the scanned photo (minimum 200x200 pixels, maximum 900x900 pixels) submitted online to Indian government site have to match the physical photo mailed to CKGS?

I have a recent scanned photo but don't have a physical passport photo yet. Will go later to photo booth to get physical pic but want to submit scanned photo to government application now.

          For consistency sake, Yes.

I am having trouble with the PDF file size limitation over 1 MB.

For example, I scanned my passport page to jpeg. Converted jpeg to black and white low ress. ThenConvert to PDF.

But file sizes are still ~2MB and Government site will not accept.

Is there an easy way to deal with this problem?

If you are on Mac, you could try the exporting the file with reduced file size. I had to do it 2-3 times back-to-back to get the file size within the stipulated limites.

The PDF file format is ubiquitous for good reason, mostly because it allows for perfect preservation of a documents formatting, text, and other elements, but also because it allows for encrypted pa…

Each time the quality of file output will be lower which is to be expected. So make sure it is still legible at the end of this process.

                1. For Minor, Marriage Certificate Category is Not Applicable.
As soon as you choose Marriage Certificate category in govt. website then Instructions will show under it as followed.

"Uploading of marriage certificate is applicable only for spouse based OCI applicants"
