New OCI card - should I do renounciation and OCI card separately??

I am applying for OCI card from New York and need to submit renounciation as well.
I was told that the process is two step: first renounciation and after receiving it, submit OCI appln
The webpage says both can be done at the same time but great NY consulate need two step process.
Any tips? Thanks!

I went to CKGI web fill details to check OCI eligibility then it gave 3 option

1) OCI + Renunciation (If applicable) 2) OCI In lieu of PI 3) Cancel PIO

I select option 1) OCI + Renunciation .Then proceeded to fill the form then ask me this question


Following Question came up



Have you renounced your Indian Citizenship? My Answer NO

Have you applied for Renunciation of your Indian Citizenship? My Answer NO

Do you have your most recent Indian passport in your possession? My Answer YES

Choose any ONE of the following :
- Does it have a Cancelled stamp due to Acquiring Foreign Nationality. My Answer NO

OR
Due to any reason other than acquiring Foreign Nationality. My Answer NO


OR

Only Cancellation .My Answer NO


Then it come with message saying apply for Renunciation first after you get the certificate apply for OCI.


Does this mean CKGI web never allow you to apply both OCI and renunciation together?

Pleas help if any one applied together

Yes for NY consulate you can't apply together but other consulates it may be possible. Anyone knows otherwise?
