Hello,
I am in the process of applying for OCI for my family and myself. I'm not sure how to submit some of the documents required by the OCI application process. We are living in Canada and Toronto is our consulate jurisdiction. Here are the issue/challenges. Hope someone who has gone thru similar background can give us some ideas.
1) Indian origin document
My son who is 18+ was born in Canada and never held an Indian passport. Getting a "nativity certificate" from India seems to be almost impossible. Can any other document from Canada would be enough? His name was added to my wife's Indian passport when he was a child.
2) Marriage certificate
We don't have a government issued marriage certificate, only have a church issued one. The marriage was never registered with any local authorities at that time when we got married decades ago. My name was added to her passport after our marriage. Will a notarized copy of that cancelled passport with my name on it be sufficient?
3) My wife added my first name to her last name after the marriage. Currently all her government issued documents (Canadian passport, driver's license etc) have my first name added to her original name (before marriage). However we do not have any "official" document to support the name change (i.e adding my first name to her last name).
Not sure how to proceed with the above requirements. Appreciate if anyone can provide any helpful information.
Thanks.
