I'm looking to apply for my OCI card in India.
Upon checking the required documents list, I see that they need a copy of my Indian Visa. I'll be travelling on a visit visa to India, so I just wanted to know if that would suffice.
The F.A.Q on the Indian Passport Services Website States :
"In case application is submitted in India, copy of any type of Visa (other than Missionary Visa and Mountaineering Visa)/Residential Permit with 3 months validity as on the date of
application"
Now upon checking similar threads, I know that many people have stated that an entry visa is required for the OCI application process in India. The problem is that I have to make an urgent trip to India for an indefinite period of time, and in order for me to obtain an entry visa, I have to present my surrender certificate, which I do not have.
I would have applied for the certificate under normal circumstances, but given the urgency of the trip, I won't have enough time to go through both processes (surrender & visa). So my only option right now is to travel on a visit visa.
Would appreciate whatever help I can get on this matter.
Thanks!
