  • Renunciation not provided in 2009

    Hi,

A friend of mine is a US Citizen and got a Indian visitor visa back in 2009. He has a checklist from "Travisa" which was the company back then which used to process the visa just like how CKGS does now. In the old checklist it mentioned about applying for renunciation to get the tourist visa, so obviously the embassy did process the renunciation and issue a visa till 2019. Having said that, his old Indian passport does not have any stamp about renunciation nor does he recall receiving a renunciation certificate. Is he ok with travelling on his current visitor visa which expires in 2019? Or does he need to have this renunciation certificate? It appears that these records don't get transferred over to the new agency which processes Indian visas. Any thoughts on how to go about this? He has not used his old Indian passport ever for travelling to the states after becoming a citizen.
