My passport has been shipped yesterday. it has been under process in Embassy since March 20th. It took little over 6 weeks as they mentioned

My passport has been with the Atlanta consulate since March 15th and I still don't have any news on it. It's been over 7 weeks. CKGS sends generic response of "keep tracking their website". I also emailed the consulate. Do any one of you know what should be done if they are not able to renew the passport within the "6-8 weeks"?

No. I went to the consulate this week and they say 4-5 weeks and more if they find any issues. It will be five weeks tomorrow for me. Planning to check with them on Monday.

I went to the consulate on Nov 13, 2018 and they said they just got clearance that day and it may take another 10 days to 2 weeks for me to get the passport.

Has anyome recently renewed Indian passport recently at atlanta consulate ? I wanted to find out if it really takes 6-8 weeks to process passport renewal in Atlanta or can it happen sooner than that ?
I applied on November 13th (Receievd at consulate), and I am travelling on December 28th and wanted to find out if I am cutting too close?

My case

I application in "Under Processing" from October 17th. Didn't hear anything yet. My application didn't have any changes and it was a simple renewal with same details.
