Traveling to India - passport expiring - need help

I'm traveling to India on Oct 26 and back Nov 12. Stopover in Beijing. My passport expires on 12/Jan/2019. Valid Green card until 2024. Will I be able to travel and come back with current passport?

Do I need to renew my passport before traveling and will I be able to get it in time. Please advise
