I don't believe there is anyway to file a complaint against them.

They represent India and don't come under the jurisdiction of any US government.

Cgi toronto sucks ( consulate general of india , toronto)

My 70yrs old Canadian friend sent 62.50 $ for visa fees by m.o. ( original fees is 62 $) for getting a tourist visa for India by Post. He had to travel to India within 10 days. After a week he gets passport back without visa with no reason stated. He drove all by himself to consulate ( because he had to go to india to attend wedding) and found the reason - since he paid 0.50 cents extra the passport came back. He pleaded and pleaded to get it done. After full day of struggle at consulate, finally he could get hold of a person who could listen to him and he was promised to be issued visa next day. He went again next day and got his visa. For that he made another m.o. for 62 $.

Had CGI Toronto been little courteous and professional they would not waste 7 days plus 2 days and four up and down trips to consulate at this age by another extra expense of 50 dollars in parking and gas, apart from two days off from work. They could have called him on phone and conveyed same if it was technically wrong to accept 0.50$ more. You can imagine the the way red-tapism in Indian offices work and lethargic babus who will not even spare seniors, disabled people, leave alone normal people.

This is the fate of CGI TORONTO . Seniors are busy in their cabins leaving people on their fate with no mercy. We simply cannot use word "professional" or "customer service" as staff related to Indian govt are born to rule, but not to serve. The very meaning of PUBLIC SERVANT doesn;t arise, they are often termed as lord of their choice. This is the reason why India remains one of most corrupt country in world and it tops the list in terms of amount and resources wasted in corrupt practices.

I remember the word "incredible india", wonder how they are suppose to develop their tourism. India lacks even with the most poorest and underdeveloped countries.

No consulate will accept any fee that is more than what is required. The country is not short of funds is what they claim. US consulate will not accept fees even a rupee more than what one is supposed to pay. That is how they work.

There is nothing wrong with the return of PP. However, they could have provided a reason.

I am not a lawyer and you need to consult with one to validate any info posted on the forum and discuss your case specifics. H1b Question? Read the FAQ first.

Rule is a rule. You have no other choice than to follow it. If you are required to pay $62 to the consulate, you have to pay $62. You can't pay $62.50. No consulate will allow that.

It is not like rickshaw guy or the taxi guy whom you can say "keep the change".

            visa fees.

Most likely you are right and even consulate is right. Perfectly okay.

Hopefully we can expect same with extra $100 bill if added by mistake.

Every one of us are familiar with level of public services in India.

              General Frustration

I’ve been searching online for a way to complain against the Indian Embassy in Washington DC. I cant believe how unprofessional they have been. The phones are a waist of time, no one answers. My passport has taken more then 3 months and its still not done yet.

The Indian consulates are generally not responsive via email or phone. It sucks, but going there in person would probably be your only option.

Even then it would be unlikely to help. The consulates are the only game in town & they know it. If you can go there, a smile and polite request for help would probably go further. Fair or not, I suspect the consulate people get beat up all day long. Nice often works.

THE FOLLOWING IS THE COMPLAINT LETTER ON BEHALf OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA EMBASY, ANKARA ,TURKEY

My Name is Nurittin Dehni. the embassy telling us our 10 years of marriage is not valid since our application. But we have a Turkish court decree stating that we have a vali d marraige in United States of America and The Republic of Turkey.
This is all despite the fact that the I-130 petition was approved by the USCIS.
                  .

I flew all the way from Florida to Turkey to hand deliver this Turkish court decree to the Embasy of Ankara
On feb.25 2010 to the embassy and they told me they cant except the paper and wouldnt even look at the paper. The security guard told us we would have to mail it so we did.our lawyer sent 2 emails to see what they were going to do. The first email was answered by this ,they still insist we still have a invalid marriage. The second one still no respond

When my husband went for his interview the officer judged our marriage and devastated us .

In july 2009 my husband went for his interview
Embasy Officer saidAccording to US Immigration law; his marriage to the Amcit petitioner is actually not valid. Therefore he will need to get divorced from his wife, and re-marry her)
The officer denied our application for immigrant visa stating that the marriage between the Petitioner and the Beneficiary was void in Turkey based on your understanding of Turkish law.
Contempt of court The Republic of Turkey
That their previous denial is erroneous and that the marriage valid

How can they judge our marraige under god !.

Indian Consulates Embassy - Advice to Officials

Staff at Indian Consulates worldwide. Why do you have to make your image so bad? The general concensus is that you neglect applicants, don't answer phones or emails, unhelpful and rude to applicants. By doing so, you degrade yourself, gives a bad impression to your own country and have a sense of guilt in your heart. Why not become an efficient and helpful person? Everyone would see you differently and respect you instead of shouting at you. The managerial and supervisory staff are also same. They don't look seriously at complaints and make improvements. The whole consulate appears to be in a mess. If you don't answer phones and applicants, they would keep calling you or contact you. The result is a lot more work for you and make people angry and complain. Clear up all the applications, then you can sit down, cross your legs and have a cup of jia/tea. I have lived in the biggest cities of the world and know how they work. The efficient officials have the least work and most respect. The shoddy ones like those at the Indian consulates only get disrecpect because of their shoddiness. Indians overseas are mostly proud of their country but shamed by their counsulates. It is time to change. Show the world that Indian consulate are as good as others if not better. You can do it. Don't go back to the old corrupt and pitiful days.
