loss of passport

Dear Sir

I had my Indian Passport which had been lost on transit while shifting my house , Unfortunately i didnot had any xerox copies of the passport for my records .

Kindly suggest me as to what should be my course of action so as to stop misutalisation of the same and issuance of a fresf passport .

You need to file a police report regarding the loss of passport and get a new one.
