Need to visit India in emergency - no passport for new born yet...

I might have to visit India due to a family emergency. My 6 wk old daughter hasn't received her SSN yet, so we haven't applied for her passport either.
What are my options to travel to India in a short time?

What is the status of the parents? If at least one is an Indian citizen, then the fastest option is to get the child an Indian passport. If you prefer the US passport for the child, you can apply for it later and get the Indian one cancelled.

Otherwise, the fastest thing is to get the child a US passport and a visitor visa for India.

The SSN is not a requirement with either option, so you can apply immediately.
