Urgent, need help with renewal of indian passport

Hi

My Indian Passport is expiring April next year , so I am applying for a renewal and I saw on the consulate website and I got 2 different list of supporting documents.

One say that they need some copies to be notarized and the other say that you can just send the photocopies like for eg:- the photocopy of greencard and marriage certificate if we need to include the spouse name in the passport. I am going to send these both documents.

Can you please let me know , if I need to notorize these documents or can send it as photocopies.

Please advise as I have everything ready and I just need to mail it across.

where to notarize

where do you notarize.I had heard that banks used to notarize photocopies but i happened to call up my bank and they said they dont it anymore.

any ideas on this

Signature notarization, not document

You can find a whole bunch of "commercial" notaries who will notarize your documents for a small fee.

You can also go to your own bank and ask them to notarize your signature on the photo-copies. Emphasize that you're not notarizing the document but only your signature and they do it in most cases. If you're a customer of the bank, then they don't charge you.

If you're working in a corporate, there would be some senior finance personnel who would be notaries too and can help you out.
